Overview
Lahij village is a charming village known for its cobbled streets, stone houses, and rich craft heritage. Dating back over 2,000 years, the village was once home to over 40 crafts, including copperware, which is now featured in top museums worldwide. Inhabited by ethnic Tats, Lahij offers a unique local cuisine and a refreshing climate, making it a great destination.
Garanohur Lake perched at 1,540 m above sea level, is surrounded by picturesque forests and mountains, making it an ideal destination for hiking tours in Azerbaijan. The moderate trekking route offers breathtaking views of the riverbed and forest, promising a rewarding experience for every hiker. Located within the vast expanse of Shahdag National Park, Lake Garanohur is a gem among the 450 lakes in this largest nature conservation area of Azerbaijan.

Program
DAY 1
Start the journey with a morning departure from your hotel to Ismayilli. After a scenic drive, arrive in Basgal village, where you will visit the “Kelaghayi Workshop” to learn about this traditional Azerbaijani silk-making craft. Next, head to Taghlabiyan village and settle into a guesthouse for lunch and a relaxing tea break. In the afternoon, embark on a beautiful 12,5 km hike to Lahij village, gaining 700 m in elevation along the way. Arrive at the Lahij Guest House by evening, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and an overnight stay in the guesthouse.
DAY 2
After breakfast, explore the ancient sites of Lahij village, famous for its copperware and unique history. Next, take a short 30-minute drive to Talistan village in Niva Lada cars, where you’ll begin a hike to Garanohur Lake (5 km, with a challenging last 1 km uphill). Upon arrival, enjoy a packed lunch prepared by your host, along with some tea made on a camping samovar near the lake. In the afternoon, hike to Diyalli village (9 km, mostly downhill), before heading to Shamakhi for a well-deserved dinner at a local restaurant. Afterward, depart for Baku, arriving in the city by 10 PM, completing your adventure.
Accommodation and food:
We will stay overnight at Lahic (aka Rustam's) Guesthouse, which offers all the necessary facilities. On the first day, we will enjoy local food in Taghlabiyan village. Dinner and breakfast will be prepared by the owner, Rustam, at the guesthouse, and for the Garanohur Lake hike, a packed lunch will be provided.
