Khinalig-Kuzun | Homestay hike

Discover the wild beauty of Azerbaijan’s highest mountain villages on this unforgettable 5-day hiking adventure on July 6-10 2025.

Starting from the ancient village of Khinalig, you'll hike across scenic valleys, deep canyons, and alpine meadows visiting remote communities like Griz, Laza, and Yergi Kek along the way. This is a cultural and trekking experience rolled into one: share meals with local families, sleep in traditional guesthouses, and enjoy panoramic views of towering peaks like Bazarduzu (4466m) and Shahdag (4243m).
Perfect for active travelers seeking authentic mountain life and untouched nature off the beaten path.

* No technical climbing or special equipment is needed. However, there are some steep uphill and downhill sections.

Program

June 6

- Departure from the hotel. Baku-Quba Driving (2,5 hours)
- Quba-Xinaliq Driving (1 hour)
- Lunch in Xinaliq
- Hiking around Xinaliq and then to Galakhudat (3-4 hours) (7-8 km easy hike)
- Dinner in Galakhudat and overnight

June 7
- Breakfast
- Hiking to Giriz (4.5 hours). Gur-gur Waterfall
- Lunch in Giriz
- Free time, Hanging around village, sharing experience
- Dinner in Giriz
- Overnight in the guesthouse

June 8

- Breakfast
- Driving to the viewpoint. 3300m+. (1 hour). View to Gizilgaya 3751m,
Bazarduzu 4466m, Shahdag 4243m and other summits
- Driving back to startpoint half an hour.

- Hiking to Laza for 5 hours. (13 km moderated hike)
- Picnic lunch in a shepherd camp on our way

- Dinner in Laza

- Overnight in the guesthouse in Laza

June 9

- Breakfast

- Hiking to Yergikek, highest mountain village of Azerbaijan (4 hours)

- Lunch in Yergikek,

- Free time, Hanging around village, sharing experience

- Dinner

- Overnight in the guesthouse

June 10

- Breakfast

- Hiking to Elik village (2.5 km, 1 hour). Then hiking to Gher village (3 km, 1.5 hour)

- Lunch

- Hiking to Kuzun village (11 km ~ 3.5 hours).

- Dinner in Kuzun

- Drive back to Baku (max 4 hours)

- Arrive to the hotel

Accommodation and food:

We’ll camp at 3,200 m, with tents and all necessary gear, including sleeping bags, mattresses, and headlamps, provided. We will enjoy 2 meals at guesthouses, 2 meals prepared by our guide at the campsite, and one packed meal at the summit.
